erratic depth reading on trolling motot depthfinder

Depth readings change frequently. Example; Showing 15' depth then changing to 60' when the other fish finder stays at the correct depth.Moving the electronics seems to reverse the order of which depth finder reads correctly.Transducer? Battery? Frequency?
